Resolution 95 of Shafter California gives notice of proposed annexation of Tract No. 1478 in Kern County. A public hearing is scheduled for November 14 1949 at 7:00 PM in City Hall. Publication in Shafter Press required weekly for two weeks.
Fifty eight girls in campfire costume marched in Monday night’s Halloween parade. They belong to groups led by Miss Lorraine Kleinkauf Mrs Arthur Kadel and Mrs Edward Brown and Bluebird girls guided by Mrs Floyd Barton Miss Florence Smith and Mrs Ed Kirschenmann Each marcher will receive an honor bead at the January council fire.
Members of the Cheschamay campfire girls group who marched in the Halloween parade were awarded a treat at V and W Ice Cream Parlor after the parade. Guardians Miss Lorraine Kleinkauf and Miss Helen Holmes attended with Lavonne Stoller Lavelle Stoller Eldeen Kimmel Virginia Bender Helen June Adams Norma Craig Margaret Revell and Dolores Nixes Nix. The group held their weekly meeting yesterday afternoon and worked on arts and crafts.
The Aowakiya campfire girls practiced their campfire diary during a Monday meeting in Miss Tilley’s Richland school room. Jean Thomas opened with the campfire law and led the group in singing it as they marched in the Halloween parade. Refreshments followed served by Allene Anderson Dorothy Weitz La Rae Pilgrim and Carolyn Roberts.

The City of Shafter adopts a Resolution of Intention for Public Improvement District No. 4 to fund grading and cement concrete curbs and gutters along Tulare Avenue and Manuel Avenue. The plan references approved 1949 plans and calls for a November hearing at 7 p.m. in Shafter City Hall with notices to property owners on the equalized roll.
