Shafter Firemen Lead Muscular Dystrophy Drive
The Shafter Volunteer Fire Department joins county firemen in a November fund drive to aid muscular dystrophy research. Recreation Commission Unveils Facilities at Shafter
The Kern County recreation commission, established a decade ago, reports 99 523 participants from Shafter, the Maple area, and Rio Bravo last year. New facilities in Shafter include a lighted softball diamond two pools gymnasium two county parks tennis courts a baseball diamond a city park and school playgrounds. Funeral Services Held for Mrs Tena Nickel in Shafter
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 pm at the Mennonite Brethren church for Mrs Tena Loewen Nickel 63 of 440 Cross street who died October 29 in Bakersfield. Rev Waldo Wiebe led the service. Burial was in the Nickel family plot at Shafter cemetery with six grandchildren among survivors.
