CHP to Cut Fuel Use By 10 Percent Plan
California Highway Patrol will reduce fuel consumption by up to ten percent under a conservation plan announced by Commissioner Glen Craig. He directed division commanders to implement practical strategies with no age changes in vehicles, expecting some reduction in routine patrol but little impact on response times. The plan calls for more in-view roadside traffic observation as fuel-saving measures while about 60 percent of the CHP fleet has access to bulk gasoline supplies at field offices.
