Newby Rubber Co to Expand Plant Capacity
The Gordon L. Newby Rubber Co. will install a 60 000 pound per hour rubber mill at its Bakersfield plant doubling production capacity. The expansion, largest in the southern San Joaquin Valley, serves customers from Vancouver to Honolulu and will boost payroll above 100 000 dollars annually with 17 workers on two shifts. Newby, engineer and inventor, started the business 16 years ago at 2110 Union Avenue and says further growth is likely due to rising demand for gaskets and other rubber products.
