Man Injured After Train Collides With Car Near Bakersfield
Harry Suckett is in critical condition at Kern General Hospital Bakersfield after his 1936 Pontiac coupe was struck by a Santa Fe freight train at the Fresno avenue crossing. The crash occurred about 8 45 Monday morning as Suckett headed west and his vehicle was partially across the track. The locomotive engineer sounded warnings and braked but could not avert the collision. The train stopped half a mile later. The car was a total wreck and owned by an aunt. Suckett is from a nearby residence and hopes for recovery remain.
