Legion to Hold Memorial Day Services Monday
The Leslie L. Robinson Post No. 213 of the Shafter American Legion and Legion Auxiliary will host memorial services Monday at 11 a.m. at Shafter Cemetery. Shafter High School band will play the National Anthem, Taps by the Legion firing squad, Reverend John Bartel attending, and Lion Auxiliary will place oaths on WWI and WWII graves.

Transient Fined for Liquor Violation in Walker Street Case
Police Judge Frank G. Shaw fined transient Ralph Rader 23, $100 and gave him a two year sentence for furnishing liquor to a Shafter minor on Walker street. The sentence was suspended and he serves six days in the local klink. The young girl was released to her parents.

Rumor Wrong Scuffle at Shafter Potato Festival
After a two day Shafter Potato Festival, John Peak, 37, suffered a fractured nose and facial abrasions in a scuffle with Daniel F. Myrick, 47. Peak filed a battery complaint. Myrick claimed Peak was intoxicated and harassing customers. Justice E. K. Grant admonished Myrick and fined $50.
