Pastor Walter Chambers of the Shafter Missionary Baptist Church invites the public to a revival from May 27 to June 2. Evangelist Bill Woodall of the North Highlands Missionary Baptist Church in Sacrament will lead the events.
Woodall, known nationwide as evangelist and gospel singer, leads a revival starting at 7 30 p m daily including a dinner and fellowship. Details include contact numbers for information.
Funeral services held May 20 for Richard C. Poplin 67 who died May 17 in Bakersfield after a long illness. Rev. Marvin C. Anderson officiated at St John’s Lutheran Church with interment at Shafter Memorial Park. Survivors include spouse Velma Gan, sister Thelma Payton, 12 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Also noted are services for Bowden 88 and Jimmy Lee Martindale infant. Walter C. Howell 61 of Lodi with May 22 funeral in Lodi, plus numerous survivors listed.
The City Council of Shafter votes to vacate a 10 foot public utilities easement along Lot 4 and Lot 5 in Tract 3100 with a hearing set for June 10 1974. Ordinance creates the Office of City Administrator outlining duties powers and appointment terms.
