The board voted to continue financing school buses at 27 578 25 including tax and to waive the mandatory 65 year age teacher retirement policy for one year after two teachers requested to stay on. Supt. Cooke linked the waiver to medicals for 1969 70 and Kenneth Thomas was contracted for 1969 70 to replace Ray Wiley on leave.
The Shafter City Council adopts an ordinance declaring weeds and rubbish on any alley parkway sidewalk or private property a public nuisance. It requires owners or custodians to remove all weeds rubbish and waste and outlines notice procedures and hearings before removal. Dated enrollments specify sections and enforcement steps.
Ordinance 190 prohibits draining private pools into streets and requires proper sewer connections. It bans permanent pool to sewer ties while allowing temporary drainage with immediate removal after use. Violators face up to 500 fine or six months jail.
