In a 1941 42 study 9.3 percent protein 24 percent fiber 13.5 percent water were found in fall barley. Pigs were assigned to four pens with barley and potato meal based rations and vitamin A supplementation. Results show potato meal can safely replace part of barley and improve gains at 10 percent inclusion, with diminishing returns at 25 and 40 percent levels.
Judge W. L. Bradshaw announced plans to run again for the Kern county Superior Court. He serves his first six-year term and stressed that his record will speak for his nonpartisan service commitment. A separate note states a California coast quarantine on mussels runs May 1 through October 31.
California growers will find at least four good black eye bean varieties ready for planting this year. Professor W. W. Other varieties include Blackeye 7 a later maturing and more resistant to pests, Blackeye 1 resistant to rot wilt nematodes maturing after Blackeye 5 but before Blackeye 7, and Blackeye 7A a late hybrid yielding medium seed quality and long grown on unfarmed soils without irrigation.
The Automobile Club of Southern California disclosed a measure stating that each 1/32 inch of tread on a non skid tire represents about 2,500 miles of wear. The finding outlines a simple way to estimate remaining tire life.
Tests determine how mileage remains in car footgear with tread wear figures. Authorities estimate 12 500 miles left on worn tires and 15 000 miles on basic treadless covers with higher risk.
