May 28 Date Set For State Militia Meet

Memorial Day Weekend Opening Plans Adopted

Friday was a field day for the Ohannesons as two of them were elected without opposition. City Attorney A. Peter Ohanneson was reelected to the Richland Elementary School Board by 81 to 0 with no write in votes. Ex Mayor Phil Ohanneson won a seat on the Kern County Union High School District Board to replace Harry West, who did not seek reelection, as the locally reported vote stood 80 for Ohanneson and 71 for his running mate Judge T N Harvey. There were no write-ins in the district wide polling.

The Shafter-Wasco cemetery district directors decided to hold regular meetings on the first Thursdays in February June and October with special meetings as needed. Fight For Dissolution Of Irrigation District Continues
The Shafter-Wasco Irrigation district directors voted to retain Attorneys Henry Schmidt and Ernest Tuttle to pursue dissolution. Aasen or Pritschke was ordered to levy the upcoming year’s assessment while legal questions were raised over $149.85 paid to pre organization petition signers. The next board meeting is set for June 2.
