Mayor Bill Lachenmaier named city commissioners at a Shafter council meeting. T. W. Little will head lights and water, Joe W. Frizzell health and safety, Glenn O. Nay police and fire, and Henry C. Neufeld streets sidewalks and parks. Recreation commission added E B Stringham and Kenneth Pipkin filling vacancies alongside O T Olson, J W Wilson, and Lachenmaier. The council approved about 15 for 50 ft garden hose, lawn sprinkler, four steel brushes, gate valve, and floor paint for the volunteer fire department at the new fire house.
