Comstock Dies in Bakersfield Hospital After Hay Machinery Accident
J. C. Comstock, 39, of 529 Munzer avenue, died in a Bakersfield hospital from injuries sustained May 1 at the Jack Sill Ranch at Merced and Beech avenues. He was reportedly caught in a hay machine.

Arthur Johnson Named New Foothill High Principal
Arthur H. Johnson, longtime Shafter High School principal since 1956, will assume the principalship at Foothill High School in Bakersfield on July 1. Appointed by the Kern County Union High School District board on Theron L. McCuen’s recommendation, he succeeds Dr. Gerald W. Hedden who moved to another district. Johnson joined the district in 1946 and has held roles as counselor, coach, dean, and administrator, including a term at Bakersfield College and leadership at Arvin High School.

Enrollments in Kern County Union High School Districts ten regular day high schools show a rise with average daily attendance reaching 16 053.26 for the eighth month an increase of 665 40 over last year. The board approved a data processing cooperation for 1965 66 and a district code expansion awarding certificates to educable mentally retarded students. Several resignations were accepted and personnel changes announced for summer session and school leadership.
