Richfield Station at 101 Central Valley Highway reported to police that 150 gallons of gasoline were stolen from their storage tanks over the weekend.
The May 7 1963 meeting of the County Board of Supervisors convened at 10:00 a.m. with Supervisors Woollomes Holt Fairbairn Webb Salter present. Proceedings covered Indigent welfare, claims, licenses, leaves, vacations, and numerous resolutions. authorizations to sign, abatement actions, and referrals to Planning, County Counsel, and Administrative Office. Evening session continued with approvals, hearings, budget revisions, property transfers, and settlement actions. The day closed with adjournment noting May 15 as the next date.
Kern County boards and several chambers sponsor a guided tour of the Feather River project aqueduct on Friday May 24. The $6.50 per person itinerary covers transport meals and refreshments with stops in Bakersfield Taft Wasco Shafter Buttonwillow Lost Hills and Pastoria Creek pumping plant.
The Shafter Aquatic Center opens for adults on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 PM. Starting Monday May 20, hours extend to 4 to 5 PM on weekdays and remain weekend times. A June 3 report will update schedules. Rates list 11 51 cents for under 12 and 25 cents to 18 and over 18.

A camporee for Scouts in the Northern District is scheduled for May 18 and 19 at Alder Creek above Glennville. Troops from Delano Shafter Wasco Rio Bravo and Buttonwillow will participate. Registration begins Friday evening at the site and runs until noon Sunday May 19. Activities extend through lunch on Sunday. Cub Scouts may visit in groups or individually Go Scouts may stay if accompanied by their unit. Transportation arranged by each unit.
Mrs H W Kelly was elected chairman of St Annes Guild for September through November at a May 13 meeting at Mrs Reg Hammond's home. The group planned the United Thank Offering collection for May 19 and discussed six books including The Fox at the Manger and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.
