Shafter Parade Weathered Rainy Night and Bright Wins
Despite rain and a brief hail, the Shafter Potato and Cotton Festival parade drew a smaller but enthusiastic crowd. Top honors went to the Shafter Chamber of Commerce float with 1980 Junior Miss Diane Bassett, Bank of America in the commercial float, and various category winners across antique cars, decorated vehicles, marching groups, bands, and majorettes with multiple community entries earning first place.
