Farmers Market Returns In Shafter This Summer
The Shafter Certified Farmers Market opens Friday 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. next to the Green Hotel in the city parking lot at Central and James. Local Kern County growers bring cherries peaches nectarines apricots potatoes vegetables and flowering plants with Santa Maria strawberries coastal vegetables and cut flowers added. Bakersfield markets run Tuesday through Saturday with the Saturday event at Pepper Tree Market 30th and F Streets from 8 a.m. to noon. This marks the 13th year Kern County hosts Farmers Markets joined by over 180 statewide markets.
