Shafter High School hosted a successful PTA barbecue during Open House on April 29 with Herm an Raina heading cafeteria tasks and department heads Jeanette Wheeler and Jim Wilson organizing demonstrations. The event supported a $200 scholarship for a graduating senior pursuing teaching, with many local groups thanked for assistance.

Youth Group Attends Billy Graham Rally in San Francisco
A Mennonite Brethren group of young people traveled by chartered greyhound bus to San Francisco to hear Billy Graham. Chaperons Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Unruh and Bill Siemens accompanied them as they toured Chinatown, the zoo, and other sights before attending the Cow Palace revival service.
