The Shafter Ministerial Association met at Rev C F Unimel’s home. Officers for the coming year were elected: Waldo Wiebe president C F Ummel vice president Bernard E Andrews secretary J W Bruner treasurer. The group discussed slot machines, a potential union revival, and released time school work. Seven men attended with cooperative spirit.
The Kern Academy junior class hosted a formal dinner at Mrs William Johnsons home last week. Co hostesses included Mrs C E Fenderson and Mrs Johnsons daughter Arlene Johnson assisted as hostess. Darlene Fenderson won a prize in the cootie game. Attendees included Ann Hinkle Darlene Johnson Harlan Cramer June Horst Elsie Schneider Mary Ann Cowell and the sponsors and staff including Mrs K W Wilson and Professor Harold Mauk.
Week-end visitors at the Ed Brow residence included Mrs Brows the mother Mrs. John Kingston and her sister Miss Aviasia Kingston arriving for a social stopover at the household.
The Union Congregational Church at 309 James Street offers 9:45 a.m. Sunday School under Walter Haag and an 11:00 a.m. worship with a special Mothers Day sermon. Attend in honor of living mothers with a red flower or remembrance for deceased mothers with a white flower.
