Gloecklers Celebrate 60th Anniversary in Wasco Church
Mr. and Mrs. D W Gloeckler observed their 60 year milestone with a March 21 reception at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Wasco. About 175 guests attended, including five of their seven daughters, relatives from Wasco Porterville San Jose and San Francisco, and many friends. The couple’s seven daughters, spouses and grandchildren joined in tributes and a three tiered cake ceremony with decorations and music.

After refreshments, Laura Triplett led a short business meeting and plans were made to initiate new members on April 4. St Marks Sends Trio to Asilomar Diocesan Convention

Bridge Lesson Series Begins In Shafter
A ten week contract bridge course started January 25 under instructor Mrs. Lewis J. Woodard of the American Bridge Teachers Association. Classes, held at Mrs. Russell Paul Jr home, include 18 to 20 members and will continue with a bridge clinic after March 29. A second eight lesson session on intermediate play also begins with Mrs. Woodard teaching. Enrollment is closed.

Mrs Ruby Hensley and her 15 year old daughter Linda were honored at a surprise pot luck dinner in Shafter’s Church of Christ recreation room. More than 100 attendees gathered as Jay Hensley was reassigned to Plainview Texas with Cen-Vi-Ro. The couple has lived in Shafter 11 years and plan to return if posted back.

Bulgarian escape tale highlighted at spring church luncheon
