About 75 attendees marked the 46th annual Leslie L. Robinson American Legion Post No. 213 birthday event at the Veterans Memorial Hall. The program honored past commanders and Unit presidents while noting 20 years of WWI members Le land Bell Grady Bartlett Albert Finkbeiner Hugh Henderson Lee Thomas and Harold Miller. Reverend Melvin B. Nonhof will resign from Shafter's Reformed Church at month end to accept a pastorate with the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Santa Cruz. He and his wife Irene will move to 2324 Mattison Lane near the Antonelli Begonia Gardens. The Nonhof family plans to depart after services on March 28, with duties in Santa Cruz beginning next month.
