Rev Waldo Wiebe announces Good Friday services tomorrow morning at 10 at the Mennonite Brethren church. The observance will focus on the crucifixion and its meaning for believers.
Seventy five delegates gathered in Bakersfield for a Dorcas federation meeting with 18 women from the Shafter Seventh Day Adventist church among 85 attendees. Members of the First Mennonite Church heard a visiting quartet from the same denomination in Paso Robles Sunday evening March 25. The program carried an Easter theme and was followed by a social hour with coffee and donuts.
The Union Congregational church of Shafter will observe a Passover meal on Thursday night with a candle lit dining room and Tenebrae service. Twelve women read scripture during the meal and twelve men enact the disciples role as lights go out. The service ends with the hymn When I Survey the Wondrous Cross before the benediction.

In a Wasco Shafter meeting the Wasco Shafter Lutheran Mission decided to purchase the Wasco Grange Hall with help from the Lutheran Mission board Church extension fund for worship and education. The new body will be known as Trinity Lutheran church of Wasco and Shafter and seek incorporation in California. The aim is to attract Lutherans and unaffiliated Christians to Christ and provide worship and instruction for children.
