Shafter Cotton Research Station to Stay Open Lease agreed with Kern County
The Shafter Cotton Research Station will remain open after the San Joaquin Valley Quality Cotton Growers Association agreed to lease 80 acres from Kern County and manage research there. The facility, opened in 1922 and known for Acala cotton, will host Fusarium Race 4 research and invite UC, Cotton Incorporated, and other groups to conduct studies funded by project fees.
