Shafter Healthy Start Seeks Students for Saturday Practices
The group seeks first to third grade students from all schools including Shafter Wasco and Buttonwillow with good attention spans and outgoing parents. Practices are at Sequoia Elementary School Cafeteria every Saturday at noon. Call Gary Rodriguez at 746-2801. Space is limited. Shafter Healthy Start hosts a Resource Fair March 23 at the Richland Activity Center from 5 to 8 PM with health fitness information door prizes activities entertainment and more. Shafter Explores School District Unification Feasibility

At Shafter High, eleven contestants competed for the Distinguished Young Woman title. Aubrey DelaRosa won and will compete in Bakersfield in July. The event featured Richland Junior High Jazz Band, a grueling fitness routine, talent acts including piano, dances, sand art, and a standout Adele cover by Carli Preston earning the Talent Award.
