Kern County construction activity surged in 2001 with total valuation at 15.14 million dollars, up 145 percent from 6.17 million a year earlier. Commercial projects led growth, rising 175 percent to 263,468,906 dollars driven by Target, Home Depot, Office Depot and other national firms. Wasco joined the 15 million club with new home construction countywide reaching 431,447,536 dollars, up 60,046,630 from 2000. Shaffer’s building activity rose nearly 50 percent.

Larson to lead Friendship Force trip to New Zealand and Australia
