Reggie Rogers announces no Friday service at 7 p.m. at 403 E Tulare Ave Shafter Church. Sunrise service will unite people of Christian faiths for worship. Kiwanis Club sponsors annual Easter Sunrise Service at Mannel Park.
Jane L Jesus son of Jesus Sr and Maria Garcia is a six child freshman at Shafter High School involved in the band bells drummer line crafts and cooking to aid the band since 1995. He teaches Folkloric dancing in Shafter and serves in church bus ministry and Awana program while pursuing college prep courses and a 3.89 GPA with plans to study architecture or music/dance teaching. The Shafter Chamber of Commerce deems him an outstanding young person with a bright future ahead.
Assemblyman Dean Florez of Shafter was appointed chair of the 14 member Joint Legislative Audit Committee JLAC overseeing audits of state funded groups and effectiveness of laws. He aims to build cross party links and ensure tax dollars are used as intended while continuing his work on water and wildlife issues.
Dr William A Hagen Jr 76 longtime Wasco physician died March 12 after a career serving Wasco and its schools. He retired in 1989 passing patients to son Dr Robert Hagen and remained active in local groups including Wasco Lions and Elks.
