Eleven contestants performed in Shafter for the Distinguished Young Woman title. Emily Enns won the crown after receiving multiple honors including Scholar and Talent awards and the First Alternate, with state competition to be held in Bakersfield in July.

Gladiators honor coach at Shafter Dinner Auction event
The Gladiators hosted a Dinner Auction attracting a large crowd with a steak dinner and a speech by Ned Permenter, longtime Foothill Trojans coach and Wasco native. Prizes included a Derek Carr signed football, a Las Vegas getaway, golf clubs, and a Nascar weekend. Proceeds aid Shafter High football, with JV last season earning the Northern Division title and tryouts imminent.
