Y C A Camp Plans Outlined For 1936 Summer
Elaborate preparations are under way for the 1936 Y M C A summer camp opening June 27 for eight weeks. Meeting in Bakersfield, presiding officer A W Eckman outlined the plan splitting ages 13 to 19 for two weeks and 9 to 13 for the next, with girls' sessions scheduled from July onward and August for older and younger girls. Camp fee is 7 50 per week including food lodging and recreation. A Shafter community night is set for April 17.

Funeral for Pioneer John Schnaidt Held in Shafter
The Reformed church was packed as family and friends mourned John Schnaidt a longtime Shafter pioneer. The service included sermons in German and English by Rev. Funck and Rev. Zenk. Pallbearers listed include F S Schnidt F W Handel Emil Kirschenmann Adolph Kirschenmann Emil Goering and Gus Bender. Interment followed at Shafter Cemetery with the Janzen Funeral Home directing services.

Miss Dorris Smoker Demonstrates Angora Wool Work
Miss Dorris Smoker of San Jose gave an instructional demonstration to sewing classes on carding wool from English Angora rabbits and weaving on a small hand loom. Accompanied by Miss Mary Jo McCarron, she has built expertise over two and a half years with her father arranging demonstrations. Mr Smoker keeps a San Jose Angora rabbit herd of about 90 after culling.

Snow surveys favorable for Kern county water outlook
The California Snow Survey report shows on March 1 that most mountain watersheds exceed March 1, 1935, with Kern Basin snow content 80 to 90 percent above last year. Kern River rainfall also exceeds normal at three of four stations. If March and April stay normal, water supplies in 1936 should be satisfactory, said N D Hudson Kern county assistant farm advisor.
