A committee meeting will settle the selection method for the potato festival queen and court. Contestants sponsored by service clubs women groups and veterans groups will work for prizes including wardrobe gifts 25 to 250 dollars and directors take five percent of ticket sales. A bonus system awards points for selling tickets in 10 day periods leading to the May festival with Evangeline Steele expected to crown the winner.

Richland School District electors will vote April 28 on whether to keep the current $1.50 per $100 assessed value tax rate. Superintendent O T Olsen says trustees set the date and the district must use a special tax to fund school facilities. The Richland Aquatic Center welcomed students from kindergarten to eighth grade with 72 degree water for swimming lessons.
