Final plans set for presentation of the Shafter Rotary charter tomorrow at 7:00 pm in the Wednesday Afternoon clubhouse. District Governor Tom Crowe of Visalia will present the charter, with Jim Thrasher of Bakersfield as chairman and Arthur Crites of Bakersfield presenting the flag and club banner. Mayor Phil Channeson will give a welcome address, and E. P. Jones will accept the charter. A girls’ musical program from Shafter High School will accompany the event, and 35 members are listed on the charter roll.

Badges Awarded To Boy Scouts At Court Of Honor
At Richland auditorium last evening the Richland PTA hosted a court of honor. More than 100 attendees watched six tenderfoot awards to Eugene Griether Wade Hamilton Donald Little Walter Rodgers Renne Vermont and Bob Warren. Arnold Siebert earned second class and Roswell Daniels first class badges. Marvin Siebert was delayed by illness but will receive a Star Scout badge soon, becoming Shafter’s first Star Scout. Special honors went to Arnold Siebert Marvin Siebert and Don Loewen. Cub Scouts received Boardwards for Weir Henderson Leroy Henderson Lester Bell and Donald Fair, with Lester Bell Leroy Henderson Weira Henderson and Virgil Arthur honored specially. Junior Chester Davis joined the pack. Scout executive C. D. Bartlett spoke on ideals and training. Fifteen Cubs and fourteen Boy Scouts participated as the flag was brought in and songs sung. A PT A business session preceded the program with officer slate to be voted on next meeting.

Indictment Dismissed Against Bakersfield Constables

Gaede Office Building Rises On California Avenue
Construction progresses on the Gaede office building near Santa Fe Way with floors done and wall frames up. Car occupants escape death in freak Santa Fe crash
Paul Holmes and John Howland, residents of the Shafter Farm Workers camp, escaped with only slight injuries when the car Holmes drove rolled over three times after being crowded by a truck on Santa Fe way one and a half miles north of town. The crash occurred at 7:30 pm as they traveled toward the farm camp. the truck swerved, forcing them to turn left, the car rolling over twice, finally stopping in a roadside field.
