One Killed Six Hurt In Car Crash
A woman died at 7 30 last evening and six persons were injured when cars driven by Clyde Wilson 18 of the Shafter Farm Workers camp and Clyde Champion 40 of Bakersfield collided at Beech and Burbank two and one half miles south of Shafter. Mrs Lillian Cline 39 mother of Wilson died. Injured were Joe Thomas Cline 7 Clifford Cline 5 Phyllis Larson 15 Alice Williams 37 Shirley Ann Champion 7 and Earl Champion 1. Champion and Dorothy 3 and Wilson and three unidentified persons in the Wilson car escaped injury. Injured were taken to Kern General Hospital in the Janzen ambulance. Both cars were badly wrecked.

Mrs. W. M. Graham aged 84 from Cook County Texas attended the Jesse James motion picture at Shafter theatre. She recalls frontier days and James lore, enjoyed her first talking picture in color, and plans future appearances. Born December 2, 1854, she married in 1876 and homesteaded in New Mexico in 1910 before moving to California. The Grahams have eight children, five living, with Hazel Sumpter as their daughter.
