The group invites first to third graders from Shafter Wasco and Buttonwillow with strong attention spans and supportive parents. School Board tackles budget crisis and language festival praise

Dr Nancy Thompson, RTA president, defended teachers furloughs to save jobs while noting 65 percent of proposed district cuts hit teaching staff and citing misused funds for buses. She praised Greenfield for deeper savings and questioned elective cuts, citing Band as protected. She alleged teacher bullying by district staff and anticipated retaliation. Dr Bergevin outlined a worst case budget plan allowing cuts to elementary and junior high, including elimination of physical education, deep junior high cuts, and ten teacher layoffs.
