District grapples with rising auditing costs and lunch funds
District Superintendent Gary Smith cites state requirements as the reason for raising auditing fees from 3000 to 6400 dollars. He notes federal budget cuts could severely impact school cafeterias already using funds carefully. The board reports student enrollment at 1550 as of March 14 1980, down from 1584 last year, while staff changes include resignations and new assignments across teaching and support roles. A district related picket by Richland Teachers Association preceded ongoing contract negotiations. More details will follow next week.
