Prayer breakfast in Shafter gathers community despite rain
In Veterans Hall, about eighty residents attended the annual Shafter Community Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the Shafter Woman's Club. Mayor Don Zachary praised acting city manager John Guinn for informing residents of local needs, while Pastor Larry Cluff likened the rain to life-giving nourishment for the town's orchards and fields. Singer Teri Goree impressed with gospel songs including Amazing Grace, followed by Pastor Scott Sampson leading Christ Arose and closing with a prayer for renewed neighborly resolve.
