Worley Sentenced For Furnishing Liquor to Minor
Nathan Leon Worley received a 180 day suspended sentence for furnishing liquor to a minor in county court before Judge E. K. Grant after a Tuesday arrest. The case stemmed from a complaint by Billy M. Jackson’s mother. Jackson, 20, was fined 250 dollars and given a 240 day suspended sentence for driving while intoxicated. Both Worley and Jackson worked as farm laborers at the North Shafter Farm Labor Camp.

Cotton Council Members Tour Shafter Station Visit
More than 150 cotton industry executives spent a day in Kern County on tours from Bakersfield to the Shafter Experimental Farm. County officials Lewis Burtch and Marc Lindsay led visits to Arvin Wheeler Ridge and Weed Patch before viewing Acala varieties and the A 442 fiber project. The group arrived via overnight rail from Los Angeles after a three day national convention in Los Angeles.

Local Quartet Begins Radio Broadcasts on Sunday
