Ag Secy urges PIK sign ups with March 11 deadline
In a seven state conference call United States Department of Agriculture Secretary John Block urged California growers and others to sign up for the Payment in Kind program by Friday March 11. The call covered sign up progress in several states and addressed tax questions tied to PIK. Starrh and other growers voiced concerns about quality and loaning of Acala cotton, while lawmakers explained tax deferral provisions and other PIK related rules. Concerns and questions remained about participation levels with final day looming.
