Seed Potatoes Demand Grows Amid Mild Weather Trends
Nationwide potato market reports show rising seed potato demand as mild temperatures extend planting, with strong seed purchases in the south and persistent car shortages in central and eastern regions. Government data note 90 million bushels on hand February 1, mostly in central and eastern states, while western holdings are lighter. Maine holds 35.27 million, receiving steady orders from Los Angeles and other markets. Kern County faces limited stocks and delayed plantings, risking export orders if yields meet projections.
