Shafter Eyes WPA Sewer Aid With Local Fund Plan
The Shafter Business Men's Association reports the federal government will cover 90 percent of a proposed sewer project cost about 100 000 dollars. To qualify the town must raise roughly 10 000 dollars in two to three weeks, deposited as evidence of good faith. The plan asks area property owners to contribute about 15 percent of assessed land value, with larger owners paying more, and funds to be banked until aid is secured. If the deal collapses, contributions are refunded at face value.

Vets Parade to Honor Kern County Legion Members in Shafter
Delegates from nine Kern county posts led by Bakersfield American Legion drum and bugle corps will parade through Shafter on Sunday before County Council sessions at 2 p m. The march ends at Legion hall with Legion and Auxiliary meetings running parallel in Legion hall and Congregational church. A joint feed will follow in the Wednesday Afternoon Clubhouse late in the afternoon. Legion hall opens in the morning to accommodate delegations.

23 Babies Registered at Shafter Well Baby Clinic

Four Shafter Groups Seek Park Land Purchase

Adults checked out 209 non fiction titles 4383 fiction books and 62 magazines while juveniles borrowed 300 books and 16 new adult registrations and 37 juvenile registrations were filed.
