Dial Cleaners Shafter's Historic Hobson Era and Modern Plant
The Dial Cleaners in Shafter, run by Mr. and Mrs. Les Hobson, began under Floyd Penn in 1939, with Hobson serving in WWII and Mrs. Hobson operating the shop solo. A 1946 plant upgrade introduced Hoffman postwar machinery including steam boiler, washer, extractor, filter, tumbler, and still, with a full spotting, finishing, alteration, and inspection process overseen by veteran cleaner Jim Jackson.
