Rich School trustees announce the Sh after Richland Aqua Center with three pools will open this Saturday during the Pot a Festival. The facility, praised as the country’s most exciting of its kind, had a two week shutdown due to a pump failure. The three pools include a swimming pool, a diving area, and a wading pool, all enclosed by reinforced concrete tunnels for public viewing and use.

Spud Car Shipments From Shafter Continue Strong
Two hundred eighty three carloads of potatoes left Shafter by Santa Fe on Tuesday. Peak day was June 9 with 286 cars shipped. Through yesterday 5609 cars had left for the Eastern market as growers fear heavy Korn shipments may push prices down. Most sheds operated yesterday. run completed only at Em H. Mettler and Carolina Farms. Most sheds expected to wind up by July 3 with the season ending by July 10.

Panero recalls food adventures aboard New Amsterdam voyage

Truck Driver Killed as Streamliner Crashes Onto Crossing
Arthur Clyde Eggman, 19, was killed instantly when his potato truck collided with a Santa Fe Streamliner at a Wasco crossing at 5 10 p m Monday. Three witnesses from Palm Ranch near Wasco testified at the coroner's inquest. Eggman, a Terrabella resident, had just discharged from the Marine Corps and was driving with his brother Garland to Wasco for local growers. The engineer was B B Smith of Fresno. Funeral home Robert L Jones is handling arrangements with services pending.

Bad Check and Drunk Cases Dominate Shafter Court
This week three residents appeared before the Shafter city judge for bad checks. Robert Holcomb of Wasco paid 150 dollars in fines plus about 50 dollars restitution. Daniel Elliott posted 7.50 restitution, received 100 dollars in fines and 90 days suspended. Virgil Whitmer paid 20 dollars and received a suspended sentence. A juvenile runaway was returned to parents from Wasco. Herbert Hawkins, a disabled veteran, received 30 days suspended if he enters hospital immediately. W. L. Grant was jailed for disturbing the peace. Cornell relatives visit Shafter from Richmond, California, staying with the Al Cornells for three weeks.
