Enteritis in Turkeys Can Be Avoided
California turkey growers can prevent infectious catarrhal enteritis by sanitation, say University of California experts Mrs. W. R. Hinshaw and Ethel McNeil. They outline three plans: market birds with replacement eggs, or disinfect premises and equipment between hatchings, or segregate breeding units and maintain constant vigilance. They note parasites are not necessarily present on every ranch.

Dogs Bite Two Shafter Girls Warning Issued
Police found the two dogs after two Shafter girls were bitten. The dogs were turned over to the county health department for observation to prevent the children from needing anti rabies treatment once the observation period ended.

New V Mail For Men In Armed Forces Abroad
A new V Mail service lets service members abroad send letters in compact sheets. The Post Office, with War and Navy cooperation, will supply free sheets and sell them at post offices and stores. Letters are photographed, shipped as images, then enlarged at destination. The process cuts weight to 3.5 percent and aims for ensured delivery. Shafter post office lacks sheets but major city offices will stock them soon.
