New first class mail sizes take effect July 15
Shafter Postmaster Gene Guenther warns customers to use small or undersized envelopes and cards before July 15 when new size standards become effective. After that date pieces under 3 4 inches high or under 3 4 inches long will be returned. Flimsy cards are banned. minimum thickness is .007 inch. over size triggers 7 cent surcharge.
