Enroll 470 for Swim Lessons at Richland Center
Swimming lessons began Monday at Richland Aquatic Center with 470 prospective swimmers, the largest enrollment in the Center’s history. Enrollment includes 308 beginners and 162 in adult, intermediate, Junior Lifesaving and Swim Club programs. The Center expects to accommodate over 25,000 swimmers over the summer with meets, water sports, water ballet and a swim show.

Shafter public works officials hosted about 30 members of the Valley St. Men association at a June 13 gathering in the American Legion Hall. Jack Harris, Shafter director of public works and association president since January, arranged the event. Members from over 15 valley cities and several private firms attended the bi monthly meeting. A Brown Bevis Industrial agent Company program followed a 7 to 8 pm cocktail hour, with films on road equipment stabilization and loading street materials. Plans for the annual picnic at Mooney's Grove near Visalia were set for July 19.
