Katherine Kadel Dies Following Illness at 77
Mrs Katherine Kadel mother of Arthur and William Kadel died Wednesday evening June 4 after two weeks illness at age 77. Born February 2 1881 in Richmond Indiana she moved to California in youth and lived in Shafter then Atascadero. A trained violinist she played first chair in the Richmond Symphony. Survived by two sons a daughter Merlin Nichols ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held last Saturday at the Chapel of Roses with Dr Arthur Richards officiating and burial in Atascadero Union Cemetery.

Exchange Club to Hold Benefit Potato Pickup
The Exchange Club plans a second annual potato pickup to benefit youth projects in Shafter.
