General Petroleum plans to bring in Wagner No 2 in the Shafter field tomorrow afternoon, the first completion since January. Truck Crash Kills Driver, Shafter Woman Loses Leg
A truck crash on the Golden State highway 18 miles south of Bakersfield killed Robert W. Britton 29 and badly injured Lorena Hale 20 who had her leg amputated. Fellow worker Charles Wilson suffered a broken leg as the rig plunged into a canal after Britton swerved to avoid a car. Mrs Hale, from Shafter, received emergency surgery at San Joaquin hospital after four transfusions. The truck belonged to E. D. Hammond of Shafter and was loaded with six tons of potatoes for Los Angeles.
