First Shafter Community Art Gathering Showcases Chichester Watercolors
Charles H. Chichester will display 26 watercolor paintings at the Legion Hall in Shafter on Thursday June 3 at 7 30 pm. Most works depict Maine scenes including Yoose Rocks Beach. Chichester studied with renowned instructor Scott O Hara who has produced painting films and works for Britannica and holds pieces in 23 national collections. An inaugural Shafte Community Art Association is formed with Harry Sturm as chair.

Bakersfield Evening High School offers a 30 hour mud control course for oil well workers and managers in partnership with the American Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors. New Kern County Radio Center Details Revealed
County Radio Engineer Bill Whiting outlined plans for a new two way county radio center on China Bluff. The masonry block building by architect Frank Wynkoop will house a transmitting room operators’ room kitchen shop storeroom and garage with radiant heating evaporative cooling and modern facilities serving county departments and state agencies. It will be the only facility in the United States to provide two way radio communication for all county agencies, replacing departments that previously operated separate radio systems.

Plant disease specialists will investigate infection, spread, and disease life between seasons using laboratory tests.
