The Shafter Mennonite Brotherhood summer Bible school held an end of term program with memory work songs and a handiwork display. Students earning over 100 points received prizes. top honorees included Mervin Neufeld Barbara Siemens and Eveleven Ediger. Summer enrollment reached 177 at Shafter Church with 46 teachers involved across sessions.

Divorce Granted to Jessie Lachenmaier in Bakersfield Court
Jessie Lachenmaier was awarded an interlocutory divorce from Elmer Lachenmaier a wealthy Shafter grower and shipper after testifying he beat her and stayed away from home. Elizabeth Ingram 70 of Shafter died of natural causes in a Bakersfield hospital last Saturday. She leaves daughters Lena Vannata and Irene Pelot, a brother T. M. Jones, and was a former deaconess active in Shafter Congregational Church. Services were held at Shafter Congregational Church with Rev. Gordon Baker attending. Burial at Loma Vista Cemetery in Orange County. Shafter Funeral Home managed arrangements.
