Sidewalk Work Progress on City Project
Work on the city sidewalk project continues with preparations to pour on the north side of the Munzer extension soon. Cement crews moved to Beth Eden street to finish curbs on the north side while forms were built on the south side. the project has progressed across the southwestern city area with eleven quitters last week amid wage disputes on WPA projects nationwide.

Six Month Report Details 154 Cases in Justice Court
The first half of 1939 saw 154 cases in the sixteenth township justice court under Judge H. A. Rightmire. Of these, 154 were criminal misdemeanors and 34 were civil. Misdemeanors included 34 traffic cases with four drunken drivers and 30 minor violations, plus 21 drunk cases, 13 disturbing the peace, 44 drunk and disturbing the peace, 10 assault and battery, eight disturbing a religious service, six petty theft, four bad checks, and 10 miscellaneous misdemeanors.

Funeral Service Held For Susie Adams
Services were held at 10 o'clock this morning at Janzen Funeral Home for Mrs. Susie Adams 71 who died at her Beth Eden street home Tuesday after a stroke. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Bakersfield. She was a native of Marcon county Missouri and lived in the Shafter district for years. Survived by husband James O Abrams of Shafter three stepchildren Mrs Ollie M Farley of Shafter Ernest of Arizona Carl of Long Beach and a son Powell of Arizona.
