Filing records show the firm formerly operated by Julia Bushnell and indicates the name was dismissed after a May 1990 filing. Public notices ran in the Shafter Press on June 1991.
Beginning July 14 1991 California sales tax rises by 1.25 percent to a range of 7.25 to 8.25 percent depending on county special districts. The Board of Equalization urges businesses to reprogram cash registers by July 15 and notes retailers are liable for tax even if not collected. The increase funds the budget deficit and changes state local tax distributions with a temporary 0.50 percent boost slated to end by January 1 1994.
