Army Recreation Fund Grows As Money Comes In

Improvements Planned for Shafter Utility Board Projects

Shatter Men Injured In Fall From Scaffold

Gideons Plan Testament Distribution at Taft Air Field

Workmen broke ground this week for a new cafeteria at Richland school marking the start of a 49217 construction project. Guy E. Hall of Bakersfield is contractor. The 48 by 96 foot building will house a 300 seat dining room a kitchen and a 200 to 250 seat outdoor lunch area with hand washing facilities and dual serving lines.

Attempted suicide at Smith Corner ends with rescue
Owen Alston, 32, attempted suicide Monday evening at Smith Corner by tying a rope and leaping from a tree. The rope broke, saving him. he was hospitalized at Kern General and later released, officers said.
