Barbecue and Horse Show Boost Local Recreation Fund
A fundraising barbecue and horse show at Bill Lachenmaier Ranch north of Shafter drew about 800 spectators and served 650 at the barbecue. Fire destroys Mettler Spud Shed at Edison
Fire destroyed the W. H. Mettler potato shed at Edison early Friday with an estimated loss of 25000 dollars. Several freight cars on a nearby siding were damaged. The cause was not determined. The shed had operated during the day but was closed for the night.
