An article debates tank farming hype sparked by UC experiments, noting high costs and expert knowhow needed for profitability. It argues tank farming will unlikely threaten dirt farming, predicting niche use for out of season, quality crops and high prices. It also presents a stark view of modern war, denying humanitarian safeguards against decisive national battle outcomes.

The Leslie L. Robinson Post 213 American Legion in Shafter receives a 2750 pound cannon to place in front of the Legion hall. Hugh Skaggs transported it from San Pedro by truck. The paper also notes fruit shipments by Mettler, Kern, and Shafter firms, club breakfasts, school moves, and community visits across Shafter and Wasco with numerous local residents and events.
